m e m o r i e s

Ever seen
the rainbow,
fall from
the sky
like a coloured
cloud,
breaking into
a kaleidoscope,
of shattered
glass,

harmless
sweet
and melting,
as
cotton candy shards,
but  intoxicating
as a raindrop,
touching
the tip,
of a waiting
tongue,

beautiful
in its vision,
its destruction,
with each
fallen
scattered piece,
mirroring
an aching memory,
stolen from
the empty skies,
of a
stormy heart.

  1. Really love the imagery. The picture used is also quite fitting. I love the dichotomy you bring out: things like “cotton candy” and “shards”, “coloured cloud”& “shattered glass”. And also how the experience is like a thirsty person waiting for a rain drop on their expecting tongue. πŸ˜€

You bring out the internal struggle by using imagery of an outside world. The memory itself is beautiful, but going back to it hurts a lot.

I also tried to bring out this dichotomy of good and bad but with reference to a collection of people rather than individuals. Talks about sacrifice for the greater good expressed through the muse of nature. Do have a look here: https://revitellect.wordpress.com/2017/02/02/the-dance-of-dead-leaves/
