one by one
at the library
she sorted them out
titles, authors, genres
till she found one with none
puzzled, opened to sneak a peek
and the scribbled untidy preface read –

‘I am a story not yet complete
add your ink
where ever you think just
my words are mine
but yours
to complete this saga
are as much a must,

I am not a philosophy to preach
for time has ensured
that with each page
which was turned
a new perspective
irrespective of choice
had to be learnt,

I am not a continuous journey
for the pages
of my past that you read
might not connect
to the scenarios present
on the opened page
that you hold,

I am neither art nor literature
the colors of my purpose
are invisible to most
the thoughts in my words
often seem as aimless
as the rays
of the lonely sun,

I am not a tale of romance or love
for there are pages
you’ll find missing
which lacked enough
of either
and were torn
to paste onto others,

But I am not just another book
open me, read me
even write on me
and on some
half written page
you will probably
completely find me,

I am neither my story nor am I yours
I am just a disjointed tale
of one of the rays
that some found
too blinding to see
and then some
that couldn’t
get enough of.’

  1. I’ve been trying really hard to quote my favourite phrase but this conclusion is so amazing; let me just quote it all
” I am neither my story nor am I yours
I am just a disjointed tale
    of one of the rays
    that some found
    too blinding to see
    and then some
    that couldn’t
    get enough of.”

    Loved it ✌😘
