like pearls
that
remain
hidden,

from eyes
that are
neither
yours or mine,

i keep
adding
an oyster
a message,

to this
secret
ocean
of mine,

and someday
when you
do read
the words,

one
by one
they’ll all
line up,

and
you’ll
find
the necklace

that
for you
i had
strung.
