i m p r e s s i o n s

Pic: Self Sunday Morning Moon

the artist
in you,
unknowingly,
scribbled
your soulful
impressions,
like pencil
on paper,

changed
your mind,
erased
the lead,
and then
just simply
walked away,

these were
not footsteps
in the sand,
that i could
summon
the waves,
to completely
wipe away,

the imprints
remain
invisibly etched,
and what seems
a blank sheet
to normal eyes,
reflects
your soul,
when I stand
in light.

    1. Thank you Rachel for your opinion….you know I value it….and so I put my view before you – impression and depression were both used to represent a physical/psychological residual imprint rather than a mental state or outlook. Do let me know if in that sense it falls in place.

  1. Um… major misunderstanding. What I meant was the wording I used in a poem of mine about the littlest footsteps leaving the deepest “impressions”. I had used that word because “depression” although proper, would have seemed “depressing”. Similar conundrum with word choice. In your own poem, I do know what you mean, I guess… I’ll read it again, for the fourth time, I think it’ll be… Thanks for the upvote 👍

  2. The imagery is absolutely stunning and have to admit. I’m stinging with a bit of jealousy that you thought to write this. This is one of those pieces where I as myself, why didn’t I think if that?”
