the calm
in the depths
becomes meaningless,

when there
is a failure
to control the surface,

each time
the moon
teasingly shines
it’s captivating light,

the reticent waves
come alive
rising unleashed within
like the high tide.

  1. None of us know how we will react when the time comes. I love the use of tides here and the juxtaposition of how that practiced calm really unfolds.

  2. ‘The calm practiced in the depths’….This is what I have been struggling with but meditation has really helped me a lot in controlling my temper. The analogy with the tides is really beautiful.

    1. Thank you, Shaloo. The surfaces are always that part of us which we try to hold, but sometimes are a necessary or a natural release. We are all, usually so conditioned to hold back our true feelings, that we forget what we really feel.
