waqt hi tha
jo mera na hua,
hota toh ye
ranjish kyon hoti,

khud ko main kyon
kasoowar kahoon,
jab waqt ki karwat
ka tha ye sila,

sab se berukh
kar ke mujhe,
apne daman mein
yun baandh liya,

kaise usse ab
jaane doon main,
wahi toh mera
ek apna hai ab,

doonga usse ab
tab azaadi ka mauka,
lauta dega jab wo
meri guzreen subah.

Translation in English:

It was a Time
that refused to be mine,
why else would
I still hold a grudge,

why should I blame
myself for things,
when the turn it took
is what put me on a hook,

distancing me from those
that were mine,
this guilty accused
bound me in its grip,

now I hold on to it
for the rest of my life,
for its all I have left
to call my own,

I hold it now
with all my strength,
till it accedes to return
my sunrises again.
