Trips and Falls

Each time i trip
and get to touch
the ground,

there is
a comforting
reality to it,

which is absent
in the air
when one is up,

and whether
this happens
intentionally or not,

i linger
to extend
this connect,

for heights
can often
become scary,

and the steadiest
of feet
are prone to teeter.

You keep your heels on, K, you never know when one might need to deliver a pointed kick! ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ’™

  1. I think I understand this. It is easier to stay close to the ground, living life quietly, then soaring up in anticipation of something wonderful happening and being crushed. It’s happened to me so often that I can’t count it. There is a part of me that now is inclined to just walk calmly on the ground, living quietly and not get my hopes up for something that doesn’t happen. That may not have been your intention with this poem, but right now, that is how I feel. Beautifully written. x

    1. You read it beautifully, Melissa. Thank you so much.

Yes, there is a sense of safety and comfort walking closer to the ground. Often, the higher one rises, the more superficial everything becomes. But to be fair, each to his own.

Glad my thoughts resonated with you! ๐Ÿ™‚
