the two-bit thing
that they
overvalue
and market
by calling it love,
dilutes
the existence
of that
which was really
supposed to
be it,

and i now
roam the streets
like a lost
vagrant
vagabond,
unable
to go home
inspite of knowingly
crossing it
each day,

for those two-bits
also
redefined home
by a number,
whereas i
still
know mine
by an inherent
inner feeling,

they say
there are rules
that hearts
should follow,
but a rose
still remains a rose
irrespective
of what
they choose
to call it.

  1. I read this poem multiple times, and enjoyed it. There’s part of it that feels mysterious, as if I think I get it, yet I don’t. That too is a beauty of the poet’s process I believe 🙂 I missed saying this anytime before perhaps – your style of writing is so unique too. It creates a different experience to read very few words per line.

    1. Thank you, Pragalbha! It came as a few disjointed thoughts…I let them be so for a change. The common thread to me was the superficiality that gets created but is valueless, and the intrinsic value that exists and is sought, but gets lost. Don’t know if that makes any sense! 😀
